Tim Hortons, an American fast-casual restaurant, has launched a pilot program for near field communication (NFC) enabled service to make payments from iPhones in a bid to expand its mobile payment services.

To launch this latest NFC payment services, the chain will deploy a programmed chip capable of processing bill payments of the customers carrying iPhones, who can just walk near the counters to pay bills.

The service will be introduced at select restaurants, before introducing it across all the 3,500-odd locations, reported eCanadaNow citing Views Time.

Tim Hortons, additionally, will extend its support to Apple’s Passbook app that accommodates movie tickets, airline boarding passes, coupons, and gift cards in one central location.

With this service, Tim Hortons will join the bandwagon of restaurant chains offering diverse payment options.
