Payments giant Visa has partnered with India-based Federal Bank to launch its global authentication programme for cardholders.
Dubbed Visa Secure, the programme leverages latest standards of the ‘EMV 3D Secure’ protocol to provide additional layers of authentication to card-issuers and merchants to combat online fraud.
Additionally, the solution also provides a frictionless checkout experience to end consumers at e-commerce websites.
Federal Bank partnered with Visa to provide its cardholders with access to customer-centric digital solutions for seamless online shopping experiences, without compromising on security.
Federal Bank COO Shalini Warrier said: “Through the roll-out of 3DS 2.0 with Visa and our technology partner, Wibmo, and our guiding principle of ‘Digital at the fore, human at the core’, we are confident that we will provide greater convenience and enriching experience to our bank customers when they pay online using Visa cards.”
Visa Secure runs on payment channels including mobile, web, in-app, and connected devices.
It provides cardholders with simple and secure authentication on e-commerce websites while they shop.
Visa India & South Asia head of products Arvind Ronta said: “With India poised to have 1.34 billion mobile connected devices by 2021, e-tailers will now be faced with the challenge of balancing elegant user experiences with superior transaction security.
“Visa Secure, built on EMVCo 3DS 2.0 protocol, makes e-commerce more secure while reducing customer friction at the point of purchase to the growing number of online shoppers.”
