Mobile messaging and mobile commerce service provider Sybase has
snapped up another high-profile deal:

This time, Sybase 365, a division of Sybase, has partnered with
MasterCard to target growth in mobile commerce in emerging
markets.

In a joint statement the companies said they were working
together on a platform that will target more than 2.5bn of unbanked
consumers.

Their partnership is aimed to provide these customers with
mainstream financial services through their mobile phones.

“Today, only a small fraction of the population in emerging
markets has bank accounts,” said MasterCard Mobile Group Executive
Mung Ki Woo.

The platform will be complemented with MasterCard prepaid
companion cards and Sybase 365 m-money solutions.
