Video footage of a “flash mob” in Dubai
International Airport used to promote the new DXB Connect Debit
Card by MasterCard has gone viral.

The video – produced to promote the first ever
airport prepaid card designed primarily for airport passengers –
has become a successful social media campaign, clocking up more
than 800,000 hits on YouTube in only ten days.

With only four rehearsals the event was
organised by Dubai Duty Free and included 55 dancers including
children and took place in one of the most popular shopping areas
at the airport.

Dubai Airports launched the product in
partnership with Dubai Duty Free, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Jade
Payments and MasterCard.

The airport had revenues of around $1.3bn in
2010 making it the largest airport operator in terms of duty free
revenue – ahead of Seoul Incheon and London Heathrow, each of which
also had sales of over $1bn.
