Discover has announced emergency assistance to its credit cardholders who are negatively affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Discover is one the several card issuers such as American Express, Apple, Bank of America, offering emergency relief.

Depending on the situation, the customers who face difficulty in making minimum payment may receive payment flexibility or waiver of late fees or interest.

The card issuer has started a coronavirus webpage to provide customers with updates and answers FAQs related to travel bookings and student loans.

Using its mobile app or signing in to online account, the cardholders will be able to access key account information, such as statements, balances and payments.

A Discover spokesperson has been quoted by CNBC Select as saying: “Discover is extending relief to qualified customers who are experiencing financial difficulty caused by the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).”

The temporary relief measures are available to Discover it Cash Back and Discover it Balance Transfer cardholders.

Card issuers such as  American Express, Apple, Bank of America, Capital One, Chase and Citi have also come forward to provide assistance and temporary relief to help customers cope with the financial damage caused by the pandemic.

As lockdown has been imposed across various countries around the globe, people are being kept away from their work.

Many customers are affected by travel bans and tourist restrictions, which are being imposed across several countries to curb the global epidemic outbreak.
