Australia-based buy now, pay later (BNPL) payments company Afterpay has forged a partnership with Canadian urban athletic apparel retailer RYU Apparel.

Under this partnership, Afterpay will provide RYU’s shoppers with access to instalment payments.

During checkout, RYU customers can now select Afterpay to buy now and pay the bill over time.

Consumers can use Afterpay for all items purchased from RYU’s portfolio.

This includes its new Ethos Collection, which offers multi-colour hoodies, crewnecks, bomber jacks and other fall apparel for both men and women.

RYU adds to Afterpay’s list of top fashion, beauty and lifestyle retail clients.

RYU CEO Cesare Fezari said: “Partnering with Afterpay will directly benefit our customers and improve the overall customer experience at RYU.

“We are thrilled to be part of their merchant network, and to complete another key step in our omni-channel strategy.”

Currently, Afterpay has an active customer base of over 11 million.

Afterpay North America head Melissa Davis said: “On the heels of our launch in Canada earlier this year, we are extremely excited to partner with Vancouver-born RYU to bring Afterpay to North American customers.

“The brand has a strong reputation for the performance and quality of their products, and we admire that they are increasing efforts to produce their clothing lines locally.

Earlier this month, Afterpay partnered with American clothing retail company Gap to bring flexible payment options to shoppers.

Last month, Afterpay made its in-store BNPL service available at major retailers across the US.
