Discover Financial Services has entered into a strategic partnership with Mexican domestic payments network Promoción y Operación (Prosa) to increase its card acceptance network across the country.

Under the agreement, Discover, Diners Club International, PULSE and network affiliate cards will be accepted on Prosa’s point-of-sale and ATM network.

Initially, the partners will enable acceptance of all Discover Global Network cards on Prosa. They also intend to potentially work on additional products and services in the future.

Discover senior vice-president and head of global business development Joe Hurley said: “I am pleased that through this alliance with Prosa, our cardholders will be able to use their cards at hundreds of thousands of additional merchants and thousands of ATMs throughout Mexico.

“Mexico is a key destination for our cardholders and this relationship continues to help us meet our goal of allowing cardholders to use their cards of choice wherever they travel.”

Discover Global Network covers more than 42 million merchant acceptance and two million ATM cash access locations across 190 countries and territories.
