India’s Yes Bank has partnered with Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to introduce a co-branded, open loop RuPay prepaid card targeting both Puducherry citizens and visiting tourists.

The launch is intended to bolster cashless payments in Puducherry and supports the Digital India initiative launched by the Government of India. The bank digitised payments for Government to Citizen (G2C) services and for retail payments as a part of this initiative.

Customers can use the Yes Bank RuPay prepaid card for everyday transactions at PTDC authorised merchant locations, including restaurants and sightseeing.

The card additionally allows payments for PTDC tourist cabs, prepaid taxi services, online booking of tickets, and at government facilities.

Yes Bank chief digital officer Ritesh Pai said: “We are pleased to partner with Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation to augment delivery of retail services and fast-track merchant payments through digital payment solutions and offer enhanced convenience of financial transactions to citizens of Puducherry Smart City.”

PTDC chairman MNR. Balan said: “Hassle free transaction and fearless travel is the basic requirement to the tourists and require safe destinations for their pleasant stay, Peaceful Puducherry is the best choice for them and this RUPAY prepaid card is a boon to them and can avail the best service from us and our co-partner, YES BANK on whom we rely upon this project.”
