Worldline has launched a new cloud payments offering designed to support the hospitality industry as it navigates the lasting impacts of Covid-19.

The WL Hospitality Suite will offer a range of cloud-based payment capabilities, integrated into the hotel’s Property Management System (PMS). In addition, through tokenization, the suite responds to the omnichannel requirements of a hotel.

The suite also includes card and online acceptance, acquiring services, and dynamic currency conversion, along with Worldline terminals.

Chris Lanckbeen, global head of travel & hospitality verticals at Worldline, said: “The launch of WL Hospitality Suite demonstrates Worldline’s commitment as a European payment partner for the hospitality industry, offering a full-service package which is completely integrated in to the hotel’s infrastructure, enabling hotels to deliver on their omnichannel promise.”

Travel industry hit hard by pandemic

It comes as the hospitality and travel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic. According to Worldline, the daily revenue per hotel room is not expected to return to 2019 levels until at least 2023 in the US and 2024 in many European cities.

Through its new solution, Worldline aims to ease the payments process for hotels, with a single point of contact for all payment and integration services.

Lanckbeen added: “Worldline has long been a partner of choice for the hospitality industry, in part thanks to our strong expertise, but also because we continue to innovate and offer excellent technical support. This means that our customers always stay ahead of the curve, providing their guests with a best-in-class payment experience.”

Worldline’s latest move comes after the payments provider has been expanding its footprint in recent months.. In May, Worldline agreed to buy a 92.5% stake in Greek network services provider Cardlink for €130m in cash. The transaction is expected to close during the second half of this year.

Established in 2004, Cardlink is claimed to be the largest multi-acquiring POS platform acceptance network and has partnership with major systemic banks in Greece, including Alpha Bank and Eurobank.
