US financial services company Wells Fargo has
expanded its m-banking portfolio by launching payment applications
for Android, Blackberry and Palm smartphones.

Running alongside the existing Wells Fargo
Mobile Banking app, the three new apps are available via the
Android Market on Android-powered devices; Palm App Catalog for
Palm devices, and a BlackBerry app is available from wf.com for
BlackBerry smartphones.

“We are listening and responding to our
customers by broadening our mobile banking services,” said Arah
Erickson, head of Wells Fargo Retail
Mobile Banking. “Our goal is to make it even more convenient for
customers to access their account information – anytime, anywhere –
helping them save time and providing peace of mind.”

Customers can now access their current account
balances, transaction history, and credit card payment information
through the new applications. Customers can also transfer funds to
their other accounts or to other Wells
Fargo
customers and pay bills.

As the m-banking platform is integrated with
each smartphone’s GPS feature, customers can also search for the
nearest ATM or Wells Fargo banking store using their handsets.

Wells Fargo wants
to be where our customers are,” said Erickson. “However they prefer
to bank on the go, whether through apps, text, or our mobile web
site, we are there for them. In addition, access to account
information while on the go provides customers with added
confidence when it comes to fraud prevention and detection. Mobile
banking allows customers to review their accounts for unusual
activity anytime, and take quick action if necessary.”

Wells Fargo has also expanded its text banking
service and will now offer its customers to the option to opt into
the service when visiting its ATMs. After confirming their mobile
phone number or entering a new one on the ATM keypad, customers
will receive a ‘welcome’ text message with instructions on how to
use Text Banking.

The Text Banking service enables customers to
view account activity, view credit card payment information and
find nearby ATM locations.
