VeriFone Systems’ countertop payment device, the VX 520, has received certification in compliance with the Groupement des Cartes Bancaires (CB Bank card Group) requirements for mobile and contactless payments.

The payment device has been certified to comply with GIE CB Bulletin 12V3, which develops the requirements for card acceptance devices accommodating mobile and contactless payment transactions.

According to VeriFone, the certification will ensure the VX 520’s ability to offer secure payment acceptance for the 130 banks and institution members, 1.2 million POS and nearly 60 million cardholders in the CB network.

In addition to being certified for EMV, PCI PTS 3, the VX 520 can also be equipped with an optional PIN pad for use anywhere.

VeriFone vice president and general manager of France, Vincent Roland, said: "Being the first to achieve compliance with GIE CB Bulletin 12V3 helps validate VeriFone’s strong commitment to France as its leading provider of NFC mobile payment solutions.

"Banks and other financial institutions within the CB Bank Card Group can now offer their merchants the unprecedented performance of the VX 520, which can handle encryption, decryption and processing at lightning speeds, as well as the flexibility to manage multiple payment applications, mobile wallets, apps and value-added programs such as gift cards and loyalty."
