UnionPay International has teamed up with Bangkok Bank to issue the local UnionPay-TPN debit card in Thailand.

Touted to be the first domestic brand debit card in Thailand, the UnionPay-TPN card can be used in UnionPay’s acceptance network across 157 countries and regions.

Transactions initiated in Thailand will be processed through TPN and those occurred outside Thailand will be processed via UnionPay.

The debit card integrates the resources of UnionPay International and Bangkok Bank, thereby offering exclusive offers and services for travel, sightseeing, hotel, insurance, and shopping.

China UnionPay chairman Ge Huayong said: "Our cooperation with Bangkok Bank in card-issuance will provide local residents with a new payment option. It is a significant progress of UnionPay’s overseas localization, and will support the upgrading of Thai payment industry.
