Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and NatWest credit card users have been once again hit by a technology glitch after they were unable to pay for fuel at Tesco petrol stations.

Customers complained that even after entering correct personal identification numbers (PIN), the payments were not accepted and after three failed PIN entries, the cards got locked.

RBS spokesman said the issues were a problem with Tesco’s technology and that their bank’s systems were operating normally.

Tesco said they are investigating reports of problems affecting some of their pay-at-pump services.

"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience," Tesco added.

The technology glitch is the third time in the last one month and fourth since June 2013 to have hit RBS and NatWest card holders.
