Global payment technology firm Nuvei has adopted Alipay’s solution, Alipay+, to make cross-border payments easier for merchants to tap over 1.2 billion e-wallet users in the Asia Pacific region.
The cross-border payment and merchant marketing solution also provides access to a network of local e-wallets in Asia.
Nuvei noted that it is currently integrated with Alipay for online purchases through hosted payment page or API, and the point-of-sale app for in-store purchases by making use of a QR code.
Nuvei chair and CEO Philip Fayer said: “We aim to consistently provide the most relevant payment options that open up more global commerce possibilities, expand our clients’ potential customer base and drive new revenue streams. Our partnership with Alipay is yet another testament to this goal.
“The APAC region is an economic powerhouse and very attractive to growth-minded businesses. We’re delighted to empower merchants to better market to this region while making the purchase experience as seamless as possible.”
Nuvei expects the implementation of the Alipay+ solution to further expand its portfolio of payment methods, allowing its clients to market to the Alipay+ network of e-wallet holders using single API connection.
This also enables merchants to accept one-time and recurring payments in the currency relevant to that payment method, from Asia’s local e-wallet holders.
Alipay Global Merchant Partnerships general manager Yulei Wang said: “With Nuvei’s integration into the Alipay+ solution, we look forward to enabling Nuvei to attract more Asian customers to its merchant network.”
Alipay had launched cross-border payment and merchant marketing solution in early 2020.
It is designed to help businesses in accepting different payment methods and undertake cost-effective digital marketing campaigns.
In China, Alipay connects more than 80 million businesses with more than one billion users.
