The Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) Alliance, an international organisation promoting secure transit fare standards, has announced the extension of its membership to Dutch mobile solutions provider Emoney Group.

As a full member, Emoney Group will contribute to setting up an open framework for automated fare collection systems.

Commenting on the collaboration with the OSPT Alliance, Christian Senly, chief technology officer at Emoney Group, said: "We are both committed to moving beyond the current state of the industry by supporting standardized, open-source solutions."

The key component of the OSPT Alliance’s criterion-establishing action is CIPURSE, an open security standard aimed at ensuring vendor neutrality, cross-vendor system interoperability, reducing new technology risks and improving market responsiveness.

"Today, Emoney Group is actively pursuing this goal, and by joining the OSPT we are acknowledging our support of the CIPURSE standard… We believe that CIPURSE is the right solution to enable us to globally develop and implement next-generation automated fare collection solutions based on open standards and multiple sources," added Senly.

Headquartered in Hoofddopr, the Netherlands, Emoney Group is an international company dedicated to combining new technologies and localised requirements under a single venture.

Speaking on behalf of the OSPT Alliance, Laurent Cremer, executive director, expressed the organisation’s pleasure at welcoming the company to the organisation, saying: "We share a common goal of applying open standards to a variety of public transport fare collection and other security solutions."

"We are pleased to have Emoney Group join the growing number of major stakeholders in the transit ecosystem around the world who are lending their support to the CIPURSE standard," she added.
