ATM manufacturer NCR Corporation has launched
a new, compact ATM that the company claims has all the power and
reliability of a bank-grade machine but can be installed
off-site.

The NCR SelfServ 16 was designed in
collaboration with ATM operator Cardtronics, which has already
purchased “a significant number” of units for deployment around the
world.

The new machines are only 0.28 square metres,
but according to NCR perform at bank-grade levels with components –
such as security, cash cassettes, display and software – being
“similar to larger NCR SelfServ models”.

Over the years, the deployment of off-premise
ATMs has increased steadily. Approximately half of all global ATMs
are away from a bank branch, with 69 percent of UK ATMs found
off-premise.

“Banks and credit unions are looking for
cost-effective ways to extend their brand and meet their customer
outside of the branch environment,” said Michael O’Laughlin, senior
vice president, NCR Financial Services.

“The NCR SelfServ 16 is designed to deliver
profitable deployment in any business model, whether a bank is
looking to outsource its off-premise ATMs to ISOs or evaluate
co-branding opportunities.”
