UnionPay International and Seychelles Tourism Board sign a MOU in Seychelles, agreeing to jointly promote the acceptance of UnionPay cards, optimize card-using environment and provide more convenient service to UnionPay cardholders visiting Seychelles.

Tu Guangshao, Member of Standing Committee of the CPC and Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Shi Zhongjun, Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles, and Alain St Ange, Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture jointly attend the signing ceremony.

According to the MOU, Seychelles Tourism Board will join hands with UnionPay International to provide tourists with tourism information, guide tourists to enjoy convenient and safe tourism consumer service, and proactively facilitate the provision of UnionPay card service by local institutions and merchants. At the same time, the two sides will conduct joint marketing to increase the popularity of Seychelles tourism service and products among Chinese tourists.

Alain St Ange, Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture says, UnionPay card is an essential payment tool for the Chinese to go abroad. To promote the use of UnionPay cards in Seychelles is not only an important measure to improve tourism service and attract Chinese customers, but also a powerful support for promoting the development of Seychelles-China relations.

Seychelles is a member of Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa. The number of Chinese people visiting Seychelles for travel and business has seen rapid increase over recent years, which was up 100% year on year in 2012. According to the forecast of Seychelles Tourism Board, the total number of Chinese tourists visiting Seychelles in 2013 will reach 8,000.
