Japan’s LINE Pay in collaboration with domestic consumer finance services provider Orient (Orico) is set to issue a Visa credit card.

The offering will be introduced in partnership with Visa World Wide Japan.

The new cardholders will be offered with high reward point rate. They can also carry out Visa contactless payments in Japan as well as abroad.

The Visa credit card will carry no charges in the first year. The annual fee for the second year and onwards will also be waived if the card is used at least once during the preceding year.

The reward point is set at 3% for the first year with an annual fee of JPY1,250, excluding tax. The fee is payable only if the card is not used at least once during the year.

However, LINE Pay noted that the benefits are tentative and yet to be finalised. Further details about the card will be provided once applications open for new customers.

The preregistration of the cards is expected to begin next month.

Additionally, Orico and LINE Pay will issue a red, limited-edition design Visa card, resembling Japanese flag, to celebrate the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Visa’s card service is an exclusive payment technology sponsor for the next Olympics.
