JCB International (JCBI), the international operations subsidiary of JCB, has teamed up with Kazakhstan-based commercial lender Kazkommertsbank (Qazkom) to facilitate JCB card acceptance in the country.

The recent agreement is the result of strategic ties between Discover and JCB since 2006, which enabled JCB card acceptance on the Discover Network in the US, and Discover card acceptance on the JCB network in Japan.

The Japanese card company said that the agreement provides new possibilities for Kazkommertsbank, Discover Global Network and JCB to expand their businesses.

In accordance with the terms of the contract, Discover Global Network will allow JCB cards to run on its network for all Qazkom acquired merchants.

For Kazkommertsbank, the integration of JCB as a new payment brand into its network brings new sales opportunities while it also expands JCB card acceptance in Kazakhstan enhancing payment convenience for over 100 million JCB cardholders.

Through the Discover Global Network, all JCB cards issued in 23 countries and territories will be accepted by Kazkommertsbank's network across Kazakhstan.
