Augmented identity technology provider IDEMIA has unveiled a full metal dual interface payment card, capitalising on the increasing demand for metal cards.

The new offering is the result of IDEMIA’s tie-up with premium metal based payment cards manufacturer Compose cure and American banking group Citi.

Those using the card can pay in a frictionless way at the point-of-sale by tapping the card’s front or back.

In this context, IDEMIA cited a study involving 18,000 responders that found 65% of global consumers preferring a metal card over a plastic variant.

IDEMIA senior vice president (Middle East and Africa), Financial Institutions, Julia Schoonenberg said: “The recent growth in demand for metal cards and adoption of contactless payment solutions forecasts tremendous potential for the product in the Middle East.

“IDEMIA’s comprehensive portfolio of contactless payment metal cards is designed for consumers looking for premium products that reflect their discerning lifestyle choices.
