Guaranty Trust Bank in collaboration with MasterCard has introduced new debit card in Uganda as part of its strategy to build a strong financial payment sector and ensure financial inclusion for all citizens.

Dubbed GTBank Debit MasterCard, the new offering is available in three variants – Standard Shillings, Dollar and Platinum.

MasterCard said that each type of card offers different benefits, but all cards support the shift towards a cashless Uganda by providing a convenient, fast and secure way to pay for goods and services in supermarkets, hotels or online.

The debit cards can be used for payments and shopping at millions of locations across the globe where MasterCard is accepted.

Additionally, cardholders can withdraw money from 300 Interswitch ATMs within Uganda and one million ATMs in more than 210 countries, providing them full control over their financial wellbeing.

GTBank managing director Olufemi Omotoso said: “The GTBank Debit MasterCard provides our cardholders with the latest in electronic payments, and gives them peace of mind that their funds are safe.
