Fintech firm Fiserv has announced that it has added Scan to Pay feature to its point-of-sale (POS) platform Clover.

The new feature will enable diners pay their bills at the restaurants. The customers can pay the bills by using their iPhone camera to scan a Clover-generated QR code at the bottom of the restaurant receipt.

The introduction of the new feature is expected to expedite payment process at the high-volume restaurants. It is also expected to bolster payment security as such transactions are validated by biometric authentication.

Also, the restaurants can track such payments through their devices.

The service is already implemented at Makers & Finders restaurants.

Makers & Finders Las Vegas owner Josh Molina said: “As a high-volume restaurant, we wanted a more efficient way for our guests to pay.

“Since we began using Scan to Pay with Clover Dining, we have been able to offer a more seamless payment experience to our guests, turning more tables while giving guests a ‘wow’ experience as they pay for their meal.”

Clover co-founder John Beatty said: “As restaurants look for new ways to adapt to consumer trends and offer quality dining experiences, Scan to Pay puts the power of when to pay and leave into the hands of the restaurant guest, creating a better dining experience and reducing extra tasks for servers.

“Scan to Pay represents another step forward for Clover as we continue to build out our core technology capabilities and provide additional solutions that can help merchants grow their businesses and delight their guests.”

Apart from mobile payment options, Clover allows debit and credit card payments.

The POS platform is said to process more than $100bn in annualised payment volume.
