US-based provider of banking and payments technology FIS has launched its cloud-based real-time core banking software for mid-tier banks in Central and Eastern Europe.

The service, hosted by Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa (KIR), a Polish payment processor and central clearing house for the country’s banking sector, will enable banks to leverage real-time banking capabilities while controlling costs through a Software-as-a-Service model.

Additionally, the service will provide access to established product libraries, provide a holistic view of the customer’s banking relationship, enabling banks to create bespoke offerings to customers and leverage the integration of new digital channels.

Commenting on the launch, managing director of outsourcing at FIS Jonathan Davis said: "Mid-tier banks often find it difficult to build the investment case to upgrade their legacy systems to provide real-time capabilities that deliver true market advantage but market demands are driving them to find cost economies without compromising on functionality."

"With FIS Profile in the cloud, mid-tier banks in the region now have a core banking platform that can enable them to launch innovative and competitive new products quickly and cost effectively," he concluded.

Last week, California-based City National Bank (CNB) announced a deal with FIS to offer cardless cash access at its ATMs.

FIS and financial institution City National Bank have also entered an agreement to pilot FIS Cardless Cash Access at City National ATMs in New York City and San Francisco.
