US-based identity and issuance solutions provider Entrust Datacard has unveiled the nShield Issuance Hardware Security Module (HSM) to secure its card issuance solutions.

The supplier claims that nShield addresses card issuers’ challenges of managing massive amounts of data, maintaining their security as well as meeting evolving standards such as contactless card profiles.

nShield is said to be suitable for high-volume issuance environments owing to its ability to support high transaction rates.

According to the supplier, nShield’s high cryptographic capacity allows key functions such as EMV data preparation, key generation and data protection.

nShield is said to offer Entrust Datacard an “end-to-end secure issuance and key management solution for its financial and government card issuance solutions”.

Entrust Datacard vice president of Bureau Solutions Dan Good said: “Integrating the nShield Issuance HSM into our centralised and instant card issuance solutions is the next step in our mission to provide our customers with the complete solutions, trust and peace of mind they need.”
