Zimbabwean telecommunications group Econet Wireless has received approval from the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to begin cross-border mobile money remittance service from to Zimbabwe.

The license will enable Expat Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa to make cross border mobile money remittances back home using Econet Wireless’ mobile money platform EcoCash.

The company said it would take several weeks for the service to be fully established, adding that it would be up and running by the end of July.

Econet Wireless has taken over eighteen months to receive approval from SARB for the service.
