EBANX offers Caixa debit card payment method to international merchants

Brazilian fintech firm EBANX has started offering Caixa debit card payment method to its international merchants so they can accept payments from their customers in Brazil.

The Caixa virtual debit card has been recently launched by the Brazilian bank Caixa Econômica Federal (Caixa).

EBANX aims to provide the new solution to all its international e-commerce clients and websites that agree to offer this payment method to Brazilians.

The Brazilian consumers who own a Caixa debit card can now make purchases from participating international e-commerce websites.

EBANX B2B product director Erika Daguani said: “The acceptance of Caixa Econômica Federal’s new virtual debit card further reinforces EBANX’s greatest goal: to create access.

“It is a way of bringing even more into the global e-commerce an entire Brazilian population that uses this payment method.

“At the same time, to create the bridge so that the greatest websites in the world can reach these consumers.”

According to a survey by Americas Market Intelligence (AMI), only 3.5% of online transactions in Brazil are made using debit cards.

However, debit cards are said to be the most popular payment methods in the country.

The Central Bank of Brazil has reported that there are 115 million active debit cards in the country, against 98 million credit cards.
