The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), the payment services provider for the US Department of Defense, has launched the new Online Payment Status Tool that allows personnel to check the status of their travel voucher online.

The tool will help to monitor if a travel pay for cases like Army active permanent change of station, temporary duty and civilian relocation has been processed.

Customers will need to enter their travel or authorization number and the first four letters of their last name to learn about the status their voucher in the five-step payment process.

The service will be available to army PCS/TDY and civilian relocation customers for non-Defense Travel System (DTS) travel claims and personnel who use DTS for scheduling transportation and lodging for temporary or permanent travel will not receive status updates via the DFAS online tool.

DFAS corporate communications Steve Burghardt told Federal Times: "With the online tool the latest information on your particular package is pulled right from the system, so you can find out once you get in there that it’s been received and processed, and when payment is anticipated or made. It’s a lot faster."
