Visa and MasterCard
have brought contactless technology Down Under for
the first time, teaming up with fast food outlet McDonald’s and
retailer 7-Eleven respectively.
This will allow the four million Australians
who already possess a contactless-enabled MasterCard payment card
to put the technology to use through its PayPass
application.

“With MasterCard PayPass our customers have a
convenient and secure payment service,” said 7-Eleven CEO Warren
Wilmot.
“We are constantly on the lookout for products
and services that make our customers’ lives more convenient.”
Similarly, Visa’s payWave contactless card
allows McDonald’s customers across the country to simply ‘wave and
go’ when grabbing a bite to eat.
“Visa payWave-enabled cards are as secure as
any other Visa chip card and carry the same multiple layers of
security,” said Visa general manager Chris Clark.
