Chinese card network China UnionPay (CUP) has
announced a series of measures aimed at extending the range of
services available to cardholders, both at home and overseas.

CUP expects to roll out a cross-border
e-payment service enabling its client base to buy online from 8
million of merchants in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the US, Japan, Korea,
Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

The network has announced improved services
for cardholders outside the country, having built a debit card and
ATM acceptance network in 125 overseas countries.

In the UAE, where the Chinese expat community
numbers around 180,000 people, UnionPay will launch a service
called Money Express. This cross-border remittance service will be
launched in partnership with UAE Exchange Group and CUP hopes to
adopt it in Asia-Pacific markets.

CUP is also strengthening the overseas
guarantee measures it has in place.  Local service hotlines
will be set up in 45 countries together with an emergency cash
service up to $5,000.

Additional special offers have also been
announced including currency conversion discounts, free guest room
upgrades at hotels and other benefits in airports lounges and
shopping malls.
