Indian telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) has partnered with the country’s largest public sector lender State Bank of India (SBI) to launch its own mobile wallet over the next two months.
The wallet will enable customers to withdraw money from any utilized fund through SBI’s ATMs, news agency PTI reported.
The service will allow the users to transfer money as well as to pay for services including recharge, movie tickets, mobile/utility bills and online shopping.
BSNL CGM (Calcutta Telephones) Amit Bhattacharya told PTI: “BSNL has chosen SBI as its banking partner in the project.
“As of now, we don’t now know how authentication will happen to withdraw money without ATM card and SBI account but there will be a process that would be known shortly how it can be done,” he added.
