The Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) has unveiled a new automated teller machine (ATM), to enable visually impaired and partially-sighted customers in the country to perform banking transactions.

Installed at BBK’s Isa Town Financial Mall, the customised ATM allows the visually impaired to perform transactions through automated voice guidance.

When a customer inserts personal headset into the machine, the new ATM automatically switches to voice-guided mode and provides voice instructions.

The keypad of the ATM features embedded Braille buttons allowing customers to easily perform banking transactions through voice-based instructions.

BBK CEO, Abdulkrim Bucheery, said they constantly strive to provide a quality banking experience for all their customers, particularly those with special needs – the hearing impaired, visually impaired and physically impaired.

"The introduction of the first ATM in Bahrain with voice-guided features will allow our visually impaired customers to access and use banking services which they previously found difficult," Bucheery added.
