Barclays Bank Zimbabwe has unveiled a new Chip and Pin Visa debit card aimed to provide customers a fast, convenient and safe way to pay for goods and services at any point-of-sale terminal.

The new card, which uses a new card technology to reduce card-related crime, has been designed to serve the needs of customers who conduct online shopping, reported The Herald.

Customers will be able get the new chip card for free by simply carrying their current VISA card and identity document to their nearest Barclays branch.

The debit card features an embedded tiny chip, which makes the card difficult to clone or duplicate.

Transactions using the chip card will enhance security against fraud compared to magnetic stripe card transactions and a merchant need not visually examine a card for holograms and other imprints.
