Mississippi, US-based BancorpSouth is to
launch university-branded affinity checking accounts and debit
cards.

The products will be launched for students at
Mississippi State University and The University of Southern
Mississippi during the fourth quarter of this year. Complete
details of the arrangements are being finalised.

communities and states where we operate,” said Jim Kelley,
BancorpSouth president and COO.

According to BancorpSouth, the use of
traditional cheques remains a popular and widely used payment
mechanism, and debit card usage continues to grow dramatically for
point-of-sale and ATM transactions.

university athletic programs offers added-value visibility for our
BancorpSouth brand and advertising cost effectiveness – two
enviable marketing goals,” said Michael Lindsey, senior vice
president and head of retail banking, BancorpSouth.
