Ant International, the global business arm of Jack Ma-founded Ant Group, has closed a Series A equity financing round of approximately $1.2bn.

In a brief statement, the company said existing investors including Ant Group and Alibaba Group participated in the round. However, Ant International did not disclose the size of their investment. Other international investment institutions also joined the round.

According to a Reuters report, Ant International was valued at $10bn prior to the funding round.

Ant International, which offers digital payment, digitisation and financial technologies, will use the proceeds to accelerate global expansion.

The company also plans product development across merchant payment, account management and other financial services aimed at SMEs and enterprise customers.

Ant International began operating independently in 2024.

“With main operations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, the company has built an expansive partnership network with banks, card organisations, mobile payment leaders and tech enterprises, connecting over 150 million global merchants with more than 2 billion user accounts,” it said in a statement.

The company operates through four business lines: Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst and Bettr.

Recently, Alipay+, through a partnership with Latin America-focused fintech PVS, connected with Argentina’s national QR payment scheme, Transferencias 3.0. The integration is designed to let international travellers make QR code payments across Argentina.

This year, Ant International also introduced the Agentic Mobile Protocol (AMP) for the agentic commerce industry.

Under AMP, merchants, LLMs, AI platforms, merchants with self-developed agents, agent builders and digital wallets can integrate agentic payment functions into existing workflows without system overhauls.
