Zurich fined £2.3m for losing client bank details

The fine is the highest levied by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), the UK regulator, on a single firm for data security failings The FSA criticised Zurich for inadequate systems and controls to prevent the loss of customers confidential information, including credit card, bank account and identity details.

Bank of China (BOC) and China Union Pay (CUP)have launched a dual currency credit card which offerscross border payment services for consumers who regularly travel between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. BOC-CUP Dual Currency Credit cardholders can use the autopay service to pay bills for public utilities, TV, telecommunications and internet in Shenzhen
DBS launches Youth Olympics prepaid card
Singapore’s DBS Bankhas launched aVisa prepaid card which allows spectators to gain entry, purchase goods and access free public transport for the country’s Youth Olympic Games. When the Games end on the 26 August, users can reload funds onto the prepaid card by topping up online at the DBS site, at ATMs, selected SingPost branches and at AXS stations across Singapore. This is the first time spectators to any Olympic event are using a Visa Prepaid card as an entry ticket, said Meranda Chan, country manager of Singapore and Brunei for Visa.
