Sybase 365 and Telefónica have gone into a global
strategic partnership to market mobile wallet services and will
launch it in Latin America and Europe sometime before June.

Sybase 365 will be involved in the development
of Telefónica’s m-wallet. The m-wallet will enable P2P
remittances and also store debit, credit, prepaid and loyalty card
features.

The announcement comes less than a week after
Google Wallet was hit by claims its service was
not safe.

Joaquín Mata, head of financial services at
Telefónica Digital, highlighted
the security aspect of mobile wallets, saying:

“The mobile wallet lies at the heart of our
financial services strategy and it is crucial that we deliver a
strong, simple and secure user experience to our customers.”

Telefónica has taken an aggressive
approach to the emerging mobile payments market,
inking deals
with providers all over the world.
