Singapore-based mobile network StarHub has
launched NFC payments services to its customers. The wallet has
been developed by EZ-Link and runs on MasterCard PayPass
technology.

StarHub, EZ-Link and the BIN sponsor DBS Bank,
are part of the consortium which received the Infocomm Development
Authority of Singapore’s brief to develop an interoperable mobile
NFC infrastructure for the country.

SmartWallet will offer users a virtual DBS
MasterCard card called One.Tap. “DBS regards the mobile platform as
an important customer touchpoint,” said Sim S Lim, Country Manager
of DBS Singapore. “The introduction of more highly sophisticated
NFC enabled smartphones will make it easier for our customers to
adopt this new technology.

“We are well-positioned to drive the adoption
of NFC island-wide.”
