Worldpay and IDEMIA are set to bring the Motion Code debit card to financial institutions in the US as part of its first North American pilot of the dynamic payment card.

The Motion Code card features an e-paper mini-screen instead of the static, printed CVV code on the back. The mini-screen is designed to display a dynamic security code, which automatically changes at frequent intervals to make stolen data useless in case of data breach.

In US, Worldpay is the first company to adopt the new technology into their payment-processing platform, allowing easy integration for financial institutions to deploy Motion Code cards.

Worldpay senior leader and head of issuer solutions Bill Hampton said: “In our pursuit to eliminate fraud, we continue to champion innovation in a market that typically lags behind the rest of the world.

“By partnering with IDEMIA to deliver Motion Code in the US, we will continue to offer best-in-class security to financial institutions and their cardholders. This card provides a complete end-to-end solution for our issuers and their cardholders everywhere.”

The new dynamic payment card is intended to address card-not-present (CNP) fraud and fight against hackers in order to offset the consequences faced by banks due to data breaches.

Till date, ten international locations have rolled out a total of more than 600,000 Motion Code cards with about 4,000,000 authorised transactions.

WorldPay said that these deployments reported zero CNP fraud cases.
