Wirecard has introduced Mastercard’s fully digital payment app, Pay by Bank, to all its online merchants in the UK.

Developed by Mastercard’s Vocalink unit, Pay by Bank facilitates digital debit payments through a user’s banking app and directly from their current account.

Wirecard merchants can integrate the app into their checkout pages, where real-time transactions will take place without the need for a card number, PIN or password.

The Pay by Bank payments will use secure digital tokens to ensure security of the financial details, while verification is carried out by the existing bank app.

Initially, the Pay by Bank solution is available with Wirecard’s digital wallet app ‘boon’ and users can add real-time funds directly from its new upcoming version, Pingit banking app.

Wirecard executive vice-president of consumer solutions Georg von Waldenfels said: “Wirecard and Pay by Bank app are a convenient match for consumers and merchants wanting to use entirely mobile, digital and secure payment solutions.
