German technology provider Wincor Nixdorf has launched a new tablet-based mobile POS system aimed at enhancing clients’ engagement with retailers’ mobile POS.

The new solution, called ‘Beetle’, can be used as a queue buster, taking mobile payments or offering customer information on the shop floor. It could be also employed by back office systems for administrative tasks, such as stock taking and inventory ordering.

Beetle has also the flexibility to operate as a fully functioning stationary POS terminal, when locked into its purpose-built docking unit and POS Device Hub. All relevant interfaces are available to connect the tablet with cash drawer, barcode scanner, receipt printer, customer display, checkout scale or any other device.

According to the company, the tablet will be available in 8.3 inch and 10 inch format, specifically designed for the retail environment. The tablet integrates state-of-the-art card acceptance technology that support both magnetic strip and chip and pin transactions to facilitate compliance with EMV and PCI requirements for mobile payment transactions on the floor.

"With the new Beetle mobile POS solution, Wincor Nixdorf offers retailers a future-proven investment in mobile applications. Together with our TP.net application suite the solution provides retail companies with an opportunity to offer customers a truly consistent and attractive shopping experience across all channels – whether it is online purchases in the store, the search for products in stock, detailed product information or payment directly on the sales floor," said Reinhard Meier, Head of Productline POS at Wincor Nixdorf, noting that the solution has been developed in collaboration with large retail companies.

"The partnership with retailers, Wincor Nixdorf’s global know-how in the multinational retail sector and the cooperation with competent partners guarantee high performance and investment security."
