Westpac New Zealand, a unit of Australian bank Westpac, is planning to expand its payment service portfolio with the launch of ‘Direct From Account’ scheduled in September 2014.

Planned in collaboration with DPS Payment Express, the service will enable customers to make payments for the goods or services bought at any merchant’s website. The service is designed to eliminate the use of card information online.

The participating merchant will be issued a confirmation alert for the payment through Direct From Account, following which, it will send an e-receipt and dispatch goods or services.

Westpac stated that the merchants would not have to make any development effort nor incur any integration cost by employing the Payment Express platform.

Westpac NZ, meanwhile, claimed that it is working with other banks to extend the service to their customers.
