Wells Fargo & Company has expanded its American Express Cards suite with the launch of the new Wells Fargo Propel American Express Card.

The new offering, which is the third Propel American Express Card after the Propel 365 Card and Propel World Card, offers cardholders triple rewards points on US gas purchases as well as double points on US restaurant charges.

Cardholders can also maintain a qualifying Wells Fargo checking or savings account or a PMA Package to secure an additional 10% on their rewards points.

In addition, the new card allows customers to participate in the Wells Fargo Rewards Program, as well as helps them gain access to various purchase and travel protections. It does not charge any annual fee.

Under the Wells Fargo Rewards Program, cardholders can combine rewards accounts related to various Wells Fargo credit card products. Cardholders can also access redemption options and the Earn More Mall feature at MyWellsFargoRewards.com.

Wells Fargo head of consumer financial services Beverly Anderson said: "In 2014, we launched our first two Propel American Express Cards as part of our goal to earn more of our customers’ business. Since then, we have heard from our customers that they like the Propel 365 Card and Propel World Card but wanted us to find a way to offer a card with similar features without paying an annual fee – so that’s what we did."
