Vietnamese mobile wallet and payment gateway VTC Pay has partnered with Docomo Digital to boost mobile commerce ecosystem in the country.

VTC Pay will utilise Docomo Digital’s platform to connect the latter’s partner international merchants with Vietnamese users. The Docomo Digital platform is designed to connect merchants and payment providers with a single-API framework.

DOCOMO Digital payments business president Dheeraj Soni said: “VTC partnership is a great manifestation of our vision to be the largest integrator of digital or mobile wallets, especially in emerging markets.

“With this partnership, we can support international merchants looking to expand in Vietnam with the most preferred mode of payment, especially among the young population, the largest segment of consumers for digital content.

Established in 2009, VTC Pay e-wallet is said to be used by more than three million customers in Vietnam. A majority of its users belong to 18-34 age group.
