Visa is set to open a new office in Atlanta, the US, next year as part of its expansion plans in the city.

Located at 1200 Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta, the new office will support a range of Visa teams and functions, including its technology and client services teams.

Visa plans to hire around 1,000 employees over the next few years for the new office.

The firm said that many of its global and regional company leaders will be re-located to Atlanta to support its employee base.

Visa head of the US market Kim Lawrence said: “As Visa continues to grow, it is critical we have a strong local presence in areas where we do meaningful business.

“Growing our presence and workforce in Atlanta will enable Visa to serve our clients more effectively, support talent development and contribute to the long-term success of local communities.”

Clark said: “Atlanta represents an epicentre of financial technology expertise, resilient entrepreneurs, diverse perspectives and a vibrant community culture.

We are committed to investing in and supporting the robust talent pool in Atlanta with rewarding professional development and growth opportunities.”

Visa said that its expansion in Atlanta builds on the company’s commitments to serve its communities.

The firm previously rolled out initiatives such as She’s Next, Empowered by Visa and Visa’s online small business hub in Atlanta.

It will now collaborate with suppliers of diverse backgrounds to design, build and provide ongoing services for the Atlanta office.

In addition, Visa will support community organisations in Atlanta in line with its strategy to promote inclusive, equitable and sustainable growth and commitments to empowering small and micro businesses.
