UnionPay International, a subsidiary of China UnionPay, and Greek lender Alpha Bank have signed a collaboration agreement that will facilitate the use of UnionPay cards through Alpha Bank’s network in the country.

Under the agreement, UnionPay cards will be accepted both at Alpha Bank’s ATM network, as well as the POS network of all businesses collaborating with the Greek lender.

Alpha Bank believes that the acceptance of UnionPay cards allows businesses collaborating with the bank in Greece to enhance its turnover and customer base.

Alpha Bank said that the acceptance of UnionPay cards at the bank’s networks servicing payment cards will be fully enabled soon.

With this agreement, Alpha Bank will become first Greek lender to welcome China UnionPay cards, which are already accepted in 20 countries across Europe and more than 140 countries and regions across the world.
