British bookmaker Betfred has joined with UK-based Skrill to offer mobile payments on its online and mobile gambling platforms.
Skrill says its mobile payment solution, 1-Tap, is available worldwide to customers and merchants and is fully integrated with Betfred’s mobile sportsbook.
Paul Barclay, vice president of leisure, entertainment and technology at Skrill said: "Whether is banking, shopping or gaming, we are all doing so much more on the go.
" We are delighted that Skrill 1-Tap is fast becoming the preferred option for mobile payments in the gaming sector".
Dennis Luckett, head of payments at Bedfred.com, added: "We want to be number one for mobile betting by making this experience as convenient as possible for our customers.
"They expect to be able to manage all their online accounts on the move and so giving them this ability, and ensuring payment is quick and easy, is a huge priority for us.
"With Skrill 1-Tap, we know we have a solution that will deliver".
According to Juniper Research, the number of mobile or tablet owners using their devices to gamble will increase by 100m over the next five years.
This forecast suggests that 164m people will place a bet, visit a mobile casino or buy a lottery ticket on their mobile device by 2018.
Customers’ payments details are saved after the initial payment made via Skrill and then the 1-Tap functionality is enabled for future connections to Betfred.com.
