Troy, a Turkish domestic card scheme, has inked an agreement with Discover Financial Services to allow acceptance of its cards internationally on the Discover Global Network.

The agreement will give Troy access to over 41 million merchant acceptance locations and over 1.9 million ATMs and cash access locations in 185 nations.

The deal also provides acceptance for Discover and Diners Club International cards as well as network alliance cards in Turkey through Troy members.

Discover Financial will also offer a centralised processing solution to authorise international transactions to the Troy’s users.

BKM (The Interbank Card Center of Turkey) has established Troy, the first and only Turkish domestic card scheme, in April 2016.

Discover Global Network senior vice president of global business development Joe Hurley said: “Turkey is an active travel market and we are excited to work with BKM to provide global acceptance for their Troy Network and their issuing partners as well as providing increased acceptance for current Discover Global Network cardholders when visiting Turkey. This agreement with BKM complements Discover’s strategy of creating worldwide alliances that provide consumers with more choice when it comes to how they pay.”
