JCB International, the overseas arm of the Japanese payment brand Japan Credit Bureau (JCB), announced Ta Chong Bank has signed a license agreement for JCB card issuance in Taiwan.

In Taiwan, approximately 300,000 merchants accept JCB card and the number of card members exceeds 1.6m in partnerships with various financial institutions.

Kimihisa Imada, deputy president of JCB International, said, "JCB and Taiwan have had a long-term relationship since 1981, and we are committed to providing unique and diverse services to consumers in that market."

Earlier in the year (JCB) Swedish mPOS provider iZettle announced it was to offer JCB cards acceptance throughout Europe.

In March JCB partnered with China CITIC Bank to launch a new credit card specifically designed to appeal to women.
