Square, a California-based merchant services aggregator and mobile payments company, has acquired a bill-splitting app maker Evenly.
Founded in 2012, Evenly has designed an easy payment app to send and receive payments for splitting bills and other expenses.

Following the acquisition, the Evenly team will work on seller initiatives to offer Square the same focus on simplicity and design that they brought to their own app.
Evenly will also offer its services to Square Cash and allow users to easily send cash to friends instead of splitting transactions.
Square product engineering lead, Gokul Rajaram, said: "Evenly’s app made it easy for anyone to send or collect payments from friends, anywhere, anytime. But more importantly, the team showcased the importance of prioritizing experience over the technical aspects of the product itself."
