Spain-based Spire Payments and payment solution integrator TECS have received approval to deploy their mobile payment solution in Central and Eastern Europe.

Spire Payments in a statement said that the solution uses its mPOS devices, the SPm2 and SPm20 which meet the EMV and security standards, and are fully payWave and PayPass certified to support NFC and contactless payments.

The SPm20 is a secure chip and PIN mobile card acceptance via payment application designed for all market sectors, including large retail environments. While SPm2 provides secure and compliant card acceptance through a payment application hosted by any smart device.

The solution, which will be initially deployed in Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Italy, will allow local acquirers to take advantage of the mPOS technology.

TECS offers solutions in the electronics payments sphere and have offices/partners in various nations, which include Austria, Germany, Italy, Belarus, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Qatar, and Arabic Emirates, as well as customer base in Europe and Asia.

Spire Payments CEO Kazem Aminaee said: "Both the SPm2 and SPm20 utilise our award winning inSPire mPOS API which has received industry recognition for promoting rapid solution development, certification and deployment. Working closely with partners such as TECS allows us to leverage this capability and offer best-in-class mobile payment solutions to an ever increasing number of customers."
